Job Description and Duties

Reporting directly to the Executive Director of the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee, in coordination with the State Treasurer’s Office General Counsel, the incumbent will serve as the in-house counsel for the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee (CTCAC) to provide the full range of legal services for CTCAC.

This position is responsible for: (1) providing advice and counsel on legal documents related to low income housing projects to which CTCAC has either awarded or is considering awarding tax credits; (2) providing legal review and advice regarding regulations and changes to the regulations to meet the State’s housing needs; (3) providing advice and counsel regarding litigation, Public Records Act requests, open meeting issues and other board governance issues, contract negotiation and interpretation, and other routine legal issues; and (4) provide legal advice regarding other special projects as needed.

The California Tax Credit Allocation Committee (CTCAC) administers the federal and state Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Programs. Both programs were created to promote private investment in affordable rental housing for low-income Californians.
