Job Description and Duties

Solution Development (Software Engineering)
  • Using the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology, develop, manage, secure, and maintain the Commissions application platforms. Platforms include, but are not limited to Office 365/SharePoint Online, Microsoft Access, custom built web applications, public web site, and WordPress. Other Solution Development duties which include, but are not limited to:
    • Performing Office 365/SharePoint Online development, analysis, configuration, and programming.
    • Documenting work flows, process maps, programs, data dictionaries, procedures and practices, etc.
    • Working with the External Affairs Division to develop and deploy enhancements to WordPress.

Report Development (Software Engineering)
  • Using SQL Reporting Services (SSRS) and Microsoft Power BI, develop, manage, secure, and maintain various reports and dashboards across the organization. Tasks required to properly manage reports include, but are not limited to:
    • Working with IT staff to respond to requests from business unit staff in a timely manner.
    • Being proactive in developing reports and dashboards to better help IT manage systems and solutions.

Business Analysis & Project Management(Business Technology Management)
  • Using the skill-sets of business analysis engage the business to:
    • Help develop project scope and business documents through requirements elicitation sessions.
    • Facilitate management understanding and end user adoption using oral and written communication.
    • Assess how new technologies, solutions, or approaches may fit into the strategic vision of the Commission and provide documented recommendations to management.
    • Participate in and/or lead various projects to deliver new and modified solutions to the business.
    • Assist the team in estimates for project deliverables and provide alternative solutions and technical expertise across a range of applications, systems and technologies.
    • Employ Critical thinking skills to assess various aspects of a project to provide useful and timely feedback.
    • Utilize soft-skills such as communication and interpersonal skills to benefit team dynamics.
    • Participate in IT governance meetings.
Other Duties
  • Help to develop training materials for staff.
  • Responsible for staying current with the latest developments in technology, equipment and software.
  • Understand and communicate the needs of the business to IT staff and management.

  • Required to work in multiple locations within California, including in a high rise building, work in confined/restricted working environment, and travel long distances by plane or by driving a car- Often
