Job Description and Duties

You will work in the Office of Information Security (OIS), which is responsible for developing and maintaining state information security policies and providing oversight and direction regarding cyber security and the protection of digital assets.

Under close supervision by the Staff Services Manager I (SSM I), in a learning capacity, the Student Assistant will assist in managing, reviewing, compiling and analyzing data for management reporting and assist the SSM I in the Human Resources processes and procedures. The student should be able to learn rapidly, follow directions, reason logically and creatively, and utilize a variety of analytical and critical thinking methods. It is expected that the incumbent be able to interpret numerical or financial data accurately and present ideas and information clearly. The Student Assistant will have the ability to develop and modify reports, maintain records, apply office policies and procedures, evaluate and take action, communicate effectively and maintain a positive working relationship in a diverse environment. The Student Assistant may, also be assigned to provide support to cybersecurity projects and will be assigned a mentor to ensure their work assignments are aligned with their field of studies.

Special Requirements

The Student must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student with a major in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Finance, Public Relations, or Human Resources carrying a minimum of 6 semester units, or 9 quarter units, possess a minimum 2.0 GPA.

College Transcrips:  Students must include unofficial transcripts for verification.  If selected, you may be required to provide official transcrips at the time of hire.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Students Majoring in one of the following field of studies: Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Finance, Public Relations, or Human Resources
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, ability to learn and perform assigned task, strong analytical skills, creative thinking, reason logically and accurately, and adopt effective course of action.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Adobe.
  • Maintain a positive attitude while working cooperatively with staff, multi-tasking in a fast paced, high-pressure environment, and a willingness to take direction and ask questions when needed.
  • Flexibility to work within your schedule with a minimum of 8 hours per week and the ability to work more hours during key delivery periods.
