Job Description and Duties

Under the supervision of Supervising Attorney, the Attorney is expected to handle a full range of legal issues arising out of the Conservancy’s statutorily authorized programs and responsibilities to preserve, restore, and enhance the extraordinary natural and recreational resources of the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Department Information

The California Tahoe Conservancy is a state agency within the Natural Resources Agency of the state of California.  The Conservancy's jurisdiction spans the California side of the Lake Tahoe Basin and covers approximately 236 square miles.  This service area includes the City of South Lake Tahoe and portions of El Dorado County and Placer County.

The mission of the Tahoe Conservancy is to lead California's efforts to restore and enhance the extraordinary natural and recreation resources of the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Special Requirements

Candidates must have active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.

Candidates must possess excellent legal research, writing, communication, and analytical skills.

Candidates must have the ability to act independently, be open-minded and flexible to other ideas and solutions, be professional, and be tactful and responsive to client needs.

This position is subject to the Conservancy’s Conflict of Interest Code (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 14, § 12120, appendix), and the incumbent is required to file a Statement of Financial Interests (Form 700) within 30 days of assuming office, annually, and within 30 days of leaving office.  The Form 700 and related information regarding disclosure of financial interests is available here: http://www.fppc.ca.gov/Form700.html.  Please speak with the agency contact if you have any questions about conflict of interest laws.
