The Staff Services Manager III classification is being appropriated for this position.

Under the direction of the Regional Manager, plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the work of the Public Works with primary responsibility for administering and supervising the enforcement of prevailing wage laws and other labor code statutes relating to Public Works enforcement:
Advises and assists Deputy Labor Commissioners with unique or complex problems;
Supervises investigations in order to carry out priorities and goals set by the Labor Commissioner to determine compliance with regulations and statutes; directs investigative hearings on various case matters;
Determines need for and justifies new positions, additional equipment and space requirements;
Confers with claimants employers to secure the amicable settlement of disputes;
Participates in selection and training of staff;
Assigns caseload and investigations;
Evaluates staff performance and takes or recommends appropriate action;
Interprets and applies divisional, administrative policies;
Directs the inspection of places of employment and their records to determine the extent of compliance with the provisions of the Labor Code;
Addresses interested groups and gives information to employers and employees regarding the provisions of State labor laws;
Prepares reports and responds to inquiries from the public;
Investigates criminal violations of the labor laws and indicates criminal actions against violators, assists public prosecutors in preparing material for such cases;
Examines witnesses, takes affidavits, and collects other evidence; performs other duties as required.
