Under the general direction of the Program Manager of the Passenger Electric Vehicle Technologies and Infrastructure (PEVTI) Branch and Commercial and Industrial ZEV Technologies and Infrastructure (CIZTI) Branch , the incumbents will serve as the highest-level resource specialist and serve as the supervisor giving direction and conducting oversight of multiple staff members. The Program and Project Supervisor performs complex technical work relating to public utilities along with a variety of supervisory, program evaluation, planning, policy analyses, and formulation activities including technical review and feedback to staff on written work products. The incumbent leads, supervises, and directs a multi-disciplinary team working on a variety of technical and analytical tasks related to their Unit’s subject matter areas. The incumbent confers with and assists the Division, Executive, and Commissioner leadership on policies and objectives and coordinates the work of the section with other sections of the Division on a broad spectrum of subject areas within the unit’s portfolio. In addition, the Supervisor represents and supports the Division and Commission in meetings, briefings, conferences, and workshops, engaging other agencies, the Legislature, companies, research organizations, communities, and other stakeholders. The incumbent participates in investigations and hearings and testifies as an expert witness in proceedings; and prepares correspondence and reports.
Commercial and Industrial ZEV Technologies and Infrastructure (CIZTI) Branch:
Oversees and directs several program units with a focus on medium-duty and heavy-duty ZEV infrastructure for trucks, buses, goods movement, port equipment, construction, agriculture, aviation, marine and locomotive end-uses for electric and hydrogen vehicles; grant funding opportunity oversight and agreement management oversight.
The Hydrogen Refueling Infrastructure and Modeling Unit within the CIZTI Branch is responsible for complex programs related to hydrogen infrastructure to support light-duty passenger fuel cell hydrogen vehicles and medium-duty / heavy-duty fuel cell hydrogen vehicles, and complex and technical modeling of energy system needs, grid needs, production, and storage of hydrogen for zero-emission vehicles. The incumbent should have a strong background in grant funding opportunities and solicitations, policy, and electric and hydrogen technology.
Passenger Electric Vehicle Technologies and Infrastructure (PEVTI) Branch:
Development and acceleration of ZEV infrastructure to serve passenger vehicles across a broad range of strategies including block grants and targeted solicitations such as multi-unit dwellings, rural, tribal, and high-mileage vehicle use cases; extensive modeling and analysis for on-road and off-road transportation; ensuring equity for renters and low-income households; collaboration with other Energy Commission divisions focused on modeling, planning, and analysis
The Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Deployment unit within the PEVTI Branch is responsible for complex programs related to light-duty passenger vehicles and infrastructure. The incumbent’s duties will support state regulations requiring a strong network of zero-emission energy infrastructure to support California’s economy and transportation needs. The incumbent should have a strong background in grant funding opportunities and solicitations, policy, and electric vehicle infrastructure technology. A background in third-party administered block grants is desired. The position requires a high attention to program and implementer oversight, processes and detail in conducting development and oversight of grant funding opportunities, and agreement management across a broad range of energy and transportation areas.
