Job Description and Duties

As a part of the Energy Commission Financial Services, the Accounting Office provides control and direction for the accounting activities of all funds and programs. The Division coordinates the funding for the administration of all Energy Commission programs and provides support in improving operational efficiency and effectiveness.

This is the entry and trainee level in the professional accounting series. Under the close supervision of the Senior Accounting Officer (Supervisor), the Accountant Trainee acts as the department’s travel liaison and cashier and is responsible for processing all travel related items for the California Energy Commission.

Minimum Qualifications (MQs): The MQs for this classification can be found at Accounting Officer Series - CalHR.The documents you submit in your application package must highlight how you meet the MQs. If the MQs are not met, you will not be considered for this position.

Hybrid and Telework Employees:  Teleworking is only available for employees who reside in California. You must be relocated to California and provide your in-state address prior to your start date.

Working Conditions

The CEC supports a hybrid workplace model with office-based and remote-centered workers. Limited in-person attendance and occasional travel may be required based on the needs of the division. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to successful performance. This position is office-based, which means the incumbent works more than 50 percent of their time from the office headquarters.
