Job Description and Duties

Under general direction of the Supervising Special Investigator I – Non-Peace Officer (Supervising Investigator) or designee, incumbents perform insurance investigations relating to regulatory compliance and/or criminal investigations including the enforcement of California and Federal laws related to the transaction of insurance. Travel is required throughout the State and may include overnight stay. Working irregular hours may be required including nights, holidays, and weekends. Background check and fingerprinting are required.


This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code.  The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests.  The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment.  Failure to comply with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.

Working Conditions

Department Information

This JC will be used to fill multiple positions in the San Diego regional office. Please disregard the Training and Development Assignment language below as the Department of Insurance will not be considering this type of appointment for this position.
