Job Description and Duties

Are you interested in a change? Looking for a new and challenging opportunity to make a difference? The professional team at the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) is currently recruiting for a Systems Software Specialist III (Technical)/Expert Network Infrastructure Engineer.

The position is within CSLB’s Office of Information Technology Division (OIT). The OIT is a small IT team committed to providing quality and timely technical support and services to the organization. The work is fast-paced, challenging, and fun. CSLB is located close to Bradshaw Road and Highway 50 in Sacramento and has FREE PARKING!

Under administrative direction of the Systems Software Specialist III (Supervisor), the incumbent will independently perform as a technical specialist at the expert level, act as team lead on most complex systems projects, and possess expert knowledge and skills to implement and maintain CSLB's most complex IT projects. The incumbent will have responsibilities of developing and implementing best practices and standards that pertain to CSLB’s Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) Information Security and all components that comprise the CSLB infrastructure, including Hyper-converged Systems, Server virtualization platforms, Windows servers, Enterprise Storage, Next Generation - Enterprise Firewalls, VPN, IDS/IPS solution, custom in-house workflow and imaging system (IWAS) and Interactive Voice Response (IVR) System, switches and routers. This will include systems software, equipment, and the understanding of capabilities and interfaces between hardware and software, and the requirements for the installation and implementation of software applications. Optimize the functionality of CSLB’s systems; LAN, WAN, storage, virtualization, call center, IBM/FileNet and data, including end-to-end system performance monitoring, making improvements as necessary. Manage/maintain/troubleshoot complex network security and firewall requirements based on standards and policies. Understand IT security policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of network services. Manage/maintain/troubleshoot complex problems related to interfaces and connectivity of the various components of CSLB’s LAN/WAN. This position will be responsible for coordinating all Level Ill support efforts with the Technical Services Unit to resolve the most complex technical problems and issues that occur within the Board's Enterprise Active Directory (AD) infrastructure.

Experience with IBM P8/FileNet, PaloAlto NextGen Firewall, PaloAltoTraps, PaloAlto Aperture, Symantec Service Desk, WSUS, SQL, i4 Call Center, SolarWinds, NetBrain, Varonis, AT&T SIEM, MS O365 E-mail and Office Suite.

Incumbent must possess good communication skills, use good judgment in decision-making, exercise creativity and flexibility in problem identification and resolution, manage time and resources effectively, and be responsive to CSLB management and staff needs. Regular and consistent attendance is required.
