Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of a Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor, leads and works with a crew of  8-10 maintenance personnel that oversees a group of public service workers and contracted labor crews, involved in picking up litter and debris and occasionally vegetation control. Caltrans lead worker operates and services various vehicles and equipment used in litter retrieval and landscape operations. Vehicle include but not limited to Packer, Shadow vehicle, brush removing equipment and 15 passenger van. A Class B driver’s license with tank vehicle (N) endorsement is required while performing duties associated with maintaining the State highway system. The incumbent must possess a Pesticide Applicators Certificate and will be expected to performing chemical application as needed.  Incumbent will be required to work overtime including nights and weekends, may be required to work temporary and/or intermittent varied work shifts, and is expected to respond to emergency calls. This position is represented under collective bargaining. (Position Location:  East Region/Santee Landscape)
