Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Camp Commander, the Assistant Camp Commander is responsible for supervising the security, health and welfare of the inmate population; monitoring and supervising the custody staff and providing staff training and performance evaluations; and assisting in the maintenance of an efficient camp operation that satisfies all legal mandates and California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and Sierra Conservation Center (SCC) policies and procedures.

Department Information

This position is at Conservation Camp #21 McCain Valley, located in Boulevard, California.

The primary mission of SCC is to provide housing, programs and services for minimum and medium custody inmates, to aid in their rehabilitation. SCC is one of the two prisons in the State responsible for the training and placement of male inmates in the Conservation Camp Program. SCC administers 20 male camps located from Central California to the southern border.

Special Requirements

** Candidates new to CDCR are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment, followed by department testing on an annual basis thereafter. **
