Job Description and Duties

• Provide science education and visitor services at Nimbus Hatchery Visitor Center and on CDFW lands (public, school, and civic group
tours; public demonstrations, informal and roving contacts)
• Clean and maintain visitor center, exterior exhibits and landscaping, prepare specimens
• Professionally represent the CDFW while working at public events in community
• Assist with special events and their planning (i.e. Nature Bowl science program)
• Maintain resource user records and compile reports; compile manuals for trainings
• Advance outreach to diverse audiences

Working Conditions

Ability to complete office tasks that require sitting, standing, and walking to other locations; attend meetings and conference calls. The position requires spending extended periods of time outdoors in potentially inclement weather. A valid California Driver’s license is required in order to drive to project sites and may require travel of up to three or more hours each way including overnight travel, early mornings and late nights. The position requires the incumbent to wear a uniform identifying the employee as CDFW staff.

Special Requirements

• Willingness to work irregular hours including a weekend day and to wear a uniform
• Two years of college with 10 semester units in biology or other natural resource related studies or equivalent of one year (1920 hours)
of experience working as a Scientific Aide
• Good communication skills
• Possession of a valid California driver’s license
