Job Description and Duties

AGPA Duty Statement

The Associate Governmental Program Analyst works under the direction of the Staff Services Manager I, California Sex Offender Management Board (CASOMB) and State Authorized Risk Assessment Tool for Sex Offenders Committee (SARATSO). The incumbent performs the more difficult and complex analytical work for CASOMB and SARATSO and works with other Department divisions and outside entities.  The duties are as follows:


40% Coordinate and assist with training classes, including scheduling and securing locations.  Maintain a database of all training attendees.  Work with California State University Sacramento (CSUS) to post trainings and keep webpage updated.  This position will require travel statewide.

20% Research, analyze, and interpret legislative policy, penal codes, and statistics relating to sex offender legislation. Identify potential conflicts with existing practices. Work independently and with other CASOMB staff to complete special assignments from CASOMB and SARATSO members.  Research, analyze and interpret information related to sex offenders and assist contractors performing research for CASOMB/SARATSO.

15% Work with Accounting, Budgets, Contracts, and the Office of the Secretary to develop and process contracts for statewide risk assessment and sex offender management training. Create and maintain databases to organize fiscal information, including billing and funding codes and other fiscal information for the CASOMB Unit. Monitor the CASOMB and SARATSO budgets. 

10% Process incoming Program and Provider Certification applications.  Maintain a database of all Certified Providers and Programs and all applications which are in process.  Obtain live scan reports from the Department of Justice website.  Assist external stakeholders in dealing with issues related to sex offender management.

10% Coordinate CASOMB and SARATSO meetings, including scheduling and securing locations.  Produce and maintain agendas, material, and minutes and work with CSUS to post meeting notices and minutes online.  Work as facilitator to CASOMB/SARATSO subcommittees.

5% Perform other duties, as required.


SSA Duty Statement

Under the general supervision of the Staff Services Manager I, California Sex Offender Management Board (CASOMB) and State Authorized Risk Assessment Tool for Sex Offenders Committee (SARATSO), the Staff Services Analyst will work as an entry level analyst working with a moderate degree of independence and in conjunction with other analysts in the management of all CASOMB and SARATSO and works with other Department divisions and outside entities.  The duties are as follows:

35% Process incoming Program and Provider Certification applications.  Maintain a database of all Certified Providers and Programs and all applications which are in process.  Obtain live scan reports from the Department of Justice website.  Assist external stakeholders in dealing with issues related to sex offender management.

25% Coordinate CASOMB and SARATSO meetings, including scheduling and securing locations.  Produce and maintain agendas, material, and minutes and work with CSUS to post meeting notices and minutes online.

20% Assist the AGPA and Management with trainings, audits, and other support services, as needed. Provide backup to other AGPA’s within the Unit.

15% Work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders. Work as facilitator to CASOMB and SARATSO subcommittees.

5% Perform the less analytical project tasks and other duties as necessary and required travel statewide.

3. Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by departmental annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
